One cellar, bringing vinegrower-winemakers together
In our wine library is a selection of wines by the winemakers of MORGON, allowing you to purchase a few bottles
and, through them, judge the diversity of our terroirs and climats.
There is a film showing the birth and life of a MORGON to round off the visit. We can also organise commented
tasting and inductions for you.
Finally, our big vaulted cellar with wooden tuns and press is equipped for receptions, banquets and weddings.
CAVEAU DE MORGON
The MORGON tasting cellar has been in 18th century Château de Fontcrenne since 1953. This was the first
grouped tasting cellar in the Beaujolais region and fills out the offer from MORGON's individual winemarkers.
Set in magnificent park with both plants and animals to enjoy, as well as a children's play area, it is open to the
public every day (except annual closing in january). Here, you will be given a warm welcome for a tastinf of
different cuvées of MORGON. The other Beaujolais appellations are also represented. There is lots of car
The only grape variety used to craft Cru MORGON is a Gamay Noir à jus Blanc. The grapes are handpicked and
then vinified in whole bunches, so that none of their great aromas and flavours are lost.These qualities come
from the disintegrating crystalline rock in the subsoil that is mainly made up of iron oxide and mangane-rich schist.
This gives great ageing potential. The aromas are mainly of red fruit that evolves towards stone fruit and
kirsch.When they have reached their peak, these wines are said to «Morgonner».
Villié-Morgon takes the work in the vines as it rhythm. Welcom and celebration are part and parcel of life here.
Explore the walking trails through the vines and discover hamlets and cadoles (dry stone huts in the vines) as they
change colours through the seasons. There are loads of places to stay here and our chefs are careful to
harmonize local specialities with MORGON. Why not try a MORGON that has been in the bottle for a few years,
served at 15 or 16° C with a cut of beef in the sauce or some game ?
